Being so close to the coast you can soak up the sun at the coastal spots of Lee-on-Solent and Hill Head beaches. Take a stroll on the beach, jet ski or browse the shops. This stretch is popular with water sports enthusiasts offering sailing and windsurfing as well as a popular fishing spot. The shoreline overlooks one of the busiest sea lanes to and from the English coast, this is a great spot for just watching the boats come and go.

Portsmouth is a working Naval Base and is home to a collection of interesting attractions including historic ships like the HMS Warrior 1860 and museums. Portsmouth Dock is special in the fact it is the only place to find Royal Navy past, present and future. You will find HMS Victory, best known for its role in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. 400,000 people visit the ship each year, so it’s a must-see when visiting the dockyard.

Titchfield Abbey

Titchfield Abbey

First built in the 13th century, Titchfield Abbey in Hampshire was the home of a community of Premonstratensian canons. The canons lived communally, like monks, but also preached and served as priests in the local community. After the Suppression of the Monasteries, Henry VIII gave the abbey to Sir Thomas Wriothesley, Earl of Southampton. The most impressive feature of the abbey today is a grand turreted gatehouse, which was built across the nave of the church.
